HSC Announces Full Tuition Morgan Family Scholarship

More students than ever before will be able to benefit from the learning environment at Hillfield Strathallan College regardless of their family’s financial situation, thanks to the generosity of the Morgan Family and the creation of the Morgan Family Scholarship. New Senior School students are eligible to receive a financial award equivalent to the cost of annual tuition starting from the day they enter Grade 9 through to graduation. The scholarship will also assist with the purchase of books, uniforms and additional school expenses. This is the first time the College will award a full scholarship.

HSC’s Fashion Wish Raises $23,000 for McMaster Children’s Hospital

On February 8th and 9th, over 100 HSC students and faculty put together a two-night event in support of the McMaster Children’s Hospital. The marketing and design aspects of the show were created by Designwerx, HSC’s own student-led marketing firm. The intermission appetizers were provided by  Panwerx, HSC’s own student-led catering project. To top it all off, the fashion show consisted of original creations by HSC student designers, featuring special guest models from Mac Sick Kids. It was truly amazing evening in successful support of a truly worthwhile cause.

HSC’s 14th Annual Science Fair Results are In

On February 3rd, HSC’s Grade 9 students displayed 102 projects with a wide variety of topics in all the areas of science. We are thankful for the participation of our community members, who stepped up to volunteer their time to help as judges, contributing to the success of our Science Fair and giving our students such a wonderful experience. Science fairs provide a unique learning opportunity for students, teachers, and members of the community to explore science and to increase public awareness of science and the world we live in. Though science fairs are generally competitive, they also provide an opportunity for students to display their creative scientific activity beyond the classroom.

Based on feedback from the Science Fair judges and science teachers, the following is the list of the Grade 9 winners.

3rd Place:
DRONE PERFORMANCE IN EXTREME WEATHER
By Charlie Bontis

2nd Place:
UTILIZING THE LIMESTONE CYCLE TO REDUCE NET ATMOSPHERIC CARBON DIOXIDE
By Kishore Jaiswal

1st Place:
THE POWER OF HYDROGEN
By Mowa Ayibiowu
Congratulations to the young scientists!
