Another month has flown by! Excitement abounded us as we enjoyed the action across our campus.
November brought along many events for our international students, including a College-Wide Open House, Remembrance Day, the Senior School’s Fall Music Night, “Trojan for a Day” and the Middle School’s Fall Awards Ceremony, to list just a few.
We hope you enjoy reading about some of these highlights below.
International Admissions Process at HSC
Do you know a student who is interested in applying to Hillfield Strathallan College? Below is an outline of our application process:
- Complete an online application.
- Forward required documents (copy of passport; last two academic report cards; transcript, if available).
- Provide results from an English Proficiency Test (IELTS, TOEFL, iTEP, Vericant). For a list of our minimum scores, please click here.
- Once a file is reviewed for minimum requirements, one or more Skype interviews with Senior School representatives will be booked or, when possible, the student will come for a visit day to the school. A response regarding an offer will follow.

Take Our Kids to Work Day
Take Our Kids to Work Day is an annual learning opportunity for students in Grade 9 in Canada, the United States and Australia. In Canada alone, –more than 250,000 Grade 9 students participate by spending the day at work with a parent or relative in an industry that interests them.. This November, HSC staff welcomed eight students of staff to learn about various aspects of the College—from teaching in the Middle School and Senior School to administrative support.
Grade 9 international students experienced the day as well! Ginny, a Grade 9 student from China, spent the day in HSC’s Health Services department, learning about various responsibilities and duties involved in keeping the students at HSC safe and healthy.
Thank you to all who participated!
Remembrance Day Ceremony
The most solemn event in the Hillfield Strathallan College calendar, Remembrance Day, brought students, faculty, staff, alumni, retired staff and community members together on Thursday, November 9. This special ceremony honoured our Old Boys killed in active service and all those who fought, and continue to fight, for our freedom. To view the video slideshow of the ceremony, click here.
“Trojan for a Day”
On Friday, November 24, 73 students jumped at the opportunity to bring a friend to school with them to experience life as a “Trojan for a Day.” Every year we invite HSC students in SK/M5 through Grade 8 to bring a friend to school to show them why HSC is such a great place!
One of the monumental transitions in the HSC journey is that from Grade 8 to Grade 9.
Added rigour and a plethora of new academic and extra-curricular opportunities await students in the Senior School. So, families were happy to take part in “Gr8t Start” to learn about the experiences ahead.
Senior School faculty and student ambassadors shared their knowledge and insights into life in the Senior School with both current Grade 8 and prospective Grade 9 families. Families also learned more about student enrichment in the Senior School, such as the brand new Junior Teaching Assistant Program.
