HSC celebrates student success through its annual scholarship program.
Hillfield Strathallan College’s influence on your child could be life-changing. Multiple, merit-based scholarships of up to $10,000 are offered to students entering Grades 7 and 9.
Scholarship applications are due November 25, 2016.
On October 15 and 16, we welcomed over 200 Montessori educators from across the province to our campus for the Canadian Council of Montessori Administrators (CCMA) Conference.
Conference attendees participated in a series of engaging workshops covering a range of topics from Montessori Administration practices to learning differences in students.
In 2017, the Montessori School at HSC will be celebrating its 50th anniversary. We were extremely proud to host this conference and look forward to celebrating our amazing Montessori students, faculty and staff in the upcoming year.

On Friday, October 27, 2016, our HSC families enjoyed a “scary” night out on our Campus at Monster Mash 2016 (Hosted by our Parents’ Guild). Monster Mash was a family-friendly night filled with Halloween-themed games, fun and food. Costumed students (and parents) enjoyed scare-tastic decorations and activities in our Athletic Complex and Community Centre.
On Monday, October 31, 2016, our students also enjoyed a dress-down day and Halloween costume contest. While our Middle and Senior Schools held a costume contest and Halloween assembly, our Early Education students enjoyed some fun Halloween-themed activities. This included relay races and guessing what was inside the Halloween mystery boxes!
On Tuesday, October 25, we welcomed military historian Andy Robertshaw to teach our Grade 7 and 8 students about the First World War. Our students were able to build trenches and participate in drills. They were also able to ask Mr. Robertshaw questions about life in the trenches.
One of the UK’s most exciting military historians, Mr. Robertshaw reveals what life was like on the frontline of history. He is a world-renowned expert on the First World War, and on trench warfare, in particular. He regularly lectures and has authored numerous books on these subjects. To learn more, visit his website.
Our annual Cross Country and Turkey Trot runs are always highlights of the fall season for our community. On Thursday, October 6, Junior and Montessori School students chased Tommy the Turkey across campus, while our Middle and Senior School students travelled to Dundas Valley Conservation Area for their joint Cross Country run.
In addition to building school spirit, this event is an opportunity to demonstrate care for the greater community. This year, students in all four schools collected pledges to help send students from Adelaide Hoodless School in Hamilton to one of the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation camps. This year, the Foundation provided enriching camp experiences for 19,000 children and youth.
We began with a collective fundraising goal of $10,000. To help us meet and exceed this goal, one of our HSC families generously decided to match dollar for dollar (up to a maximum of $10,000) all funds raised by the College during the event.
As a result of this generous gesture and the support of the entire College community, HSC raised $31,000 to send kids to camp!

Rehearsals are under way for the Senior School’s fall musical, Legally Blonde.
Elle Woods is a bubbly, peppy sorority girl at UCLA, who has everything going for her. That is, until her boyfriend, Warner, dumps her in search of someone who is more ‘serious’. Elle decides to prove him wrong (and win him back) by getting accepted to Harvard Law school. Despite having to work her way up from the bottom of the class, Elle proves that ‘believing in yourself never goes out of style’! Don’t miss out on your opportunity to see this exciting production!
We would like to offer prospective families complimentary passes to one of the shows. If you are interested in attending one of the performances, please contact Jodi Blore at firstname.lastname@example.org.
