It has been an exciting start to the 2016-17 school year!
We launched our new online learning management system, myHSC. The system will connect our community in amazing new ways, helping to better support our strategic goals through to 2020.
HSC also launched a beautiful new website for the start of the 2016 school term. The new hsc.on.ca is designed to make the admissions process easier and more efficient for our users. Please feel free to visit the new improved site!
All of these new tools work together to make our community stronger. In the words of our Head of College, Mr. Marc Ayotte: “As a whole school connected, we are so much better together!”

HSC celebrates student success through its annual scholarship program.
Hillfield Strathallan College’s influence on your child could be life-changing. Multiple, merit-based scholarships of up to $10,000 are offered to students entering Grades 7 and 9.
Scholarship applications are due November 25, 2016.
The celebration of leadership and community service is a time-honoured tradition at HSC. Our Grade 12 Prefects, under the leadership of our Head Girl and Head Boy, are role models for the student body and work tirelessly to make connections with all of our constituent groups.
In recognition of the important role these values play in our community, the College officially welcomed our 2016-17 Prefect team on Friday, September 16, 2016 in the College’s annual Prefect Installation Chapel Service.
Prefects are chosen from members of the graduating class. They are selected as those who, in the opinion of their peers, the faculty and the Head of College, have shown responsibility in the areas of academics, activity participation and leadership.
Visit our website to learn more about the student leadership opportunities available in all four of our schools.
The HSC Alumni Association is pleased to celebrate the recipients of the 2016 HSC Award of Distinction, Prof. Ratna Kapur ’78 and Ms. Naina Kapur ’78. The goal of this award program is to celebrate the success of alumni from Hillfield Strathallan College, while engaging our next generation of leaders.
Both Award of Distinction winners were unable to join us in person for the ceremony, but were still able to pass along their thanks and words of wisdom. Naina connected with us from India. She delivered an inspiring and humbling message to our HSC students while reflecting fondly on her time at HSC. Similarly, Ratna passed along her message for our Head Girl Arundhati to read aloud for our next generation of alumni.
The College is also pleased to announce that Mike Branch ’99, Dylan Dissanayake ’00 and Sarah Garside ’83, were inducted into the Hall of Excellence during this ceremony. By honouring this distinguished group of alumni, we continue a tradition of inspiring others through the legacy of alumni who have come before them.
Thank you to everyone who visited us at the 8th Annual Telling Tales Festival on Sunday, September 18, 2016. Our dedicated HSC bus drivers were ready, coffees in hand, to bring dozens of children to this amazing festival.
We had a lot of fun meeting fellow lovers of literacy, and were proud to continue our support of such an amazing festival.
If you stopped by our table to chat, and have any follow up questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us by calling 905-389-1367, or e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
On Thursday, September 8, 2016, our youngest HSC Trojans were inducted into our House System!
Our Junior School sent students on a “top secret” mission to find out their House, while our Montessori School held a “sorting hat” ceremony to reveal each student’s House affiliation. This year every student – including our toddlers – was placed in one of four houses: Cedar/More, Maple/Tay, Pine/Yre or Birch/Earn.
Our students were excited to learn the history of the HSC House System and find out which colour they will wear to rock their house spirit for the rest of their time at the College!
At HSC the House system provides a vertical continuum for the purpose of counselling, special activities and competition. There are several recognitions awarded annually for the Houses contributing the most to the College.
