The week of June 20, 2016 was busy for our HSC students as they prepared for graduation and Spring Awards. On Wednesday, June 22, Junior, Montessori and Middle School students celebrated the end of the year with their closing ceremonies. Graduating students said farewell to a closing chapter in their lives while looking forward to the next.
On Friday, June 24, 2016 Senior School students and HSC graduates gathered in the Athletic Complex and Community Centre for their closing ceremonies. Students from each grade were honoured with end of year awards, medals and prizes. A lot of hugging, laughing and tears of joy were shared amongst graduates as they crossed the stage to receive their diplomas.
Good luck to our HSC graduates in this next chapter of their lives. The HSC community will always welcome them back with open arms as alumni.

On Friday, June 17, 2016 our Montessori School students participated in their annual Caravan celebration. Friends and family enjoyed a special performance in the Virtue-Fitzgerald Centre for the Arts. Afterwards, guests were invited back to the Montessori school for yummy treats and fascinating research from around the world.

Our Junior School students had a lot of fun on their annual end of year trips. This year, our PK3, JK, SK and Grade 4 Students headed to Christie Conservation Area. Students enjoyed active outdoor activities and a delicious BBQ lunch. Additionally, our Grade 1, 2 and 3 students visited the Dundas Driving Park and had a great time!
On Tuesday, June 21, 2016 our Junior and Montessori School students enjoyed a playday at the College. The wide range of activities included obstacle courses, soccer, ultimate frisbee, sack races and more.
After a busy semester, these events were the perfect way for our HSC students to get ready for an amazing summer!
On Tuesday, June 28, 2016 HSC held its 20th anniversary HSC Golf Classic. The HSC community was thrilled to play on the green with faculty, staff, alumni, parents and parents of alumni. The foursome teams were full and the tournament’s generous sponsors and donors came out to enjoy the sun and join the fun. We also saw plenty of young alumni having a great day and supporting this amazing event.
While completing the 18 hole course, teams also participated in competitions along the way including Longest Drive, Longest Marshmallow Drive and the Headmaster’s Challenge (awarded to a player achieving a hole-in-one on a difficult hole).
On Tuesday, June 7, 2016 HSC celebrated the careers of two incredible educators and one dedicated staff member who have together given 93 years of their expertise to HSC. Faculty and staff, as well as many retired faculty and staff gathered together to honour their contributions and wish them the best as they begin a new chapter.
Brenda Zwolak and Nancy Rocca retire this year after teaching many of our alumni, and leaving countless students with fond memories of their time at the College. We wish them all the best in their retirement.
After 14 years of service at HSC, Patricia Addis is also retiring from her position as bus driver at the College. Patty drove many students to and from school delivering them safely, and building relationships with students that will not be forgotten. We wish you nothing but the best, Patty, in your retirement.
Each year, the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education (CCAE) holds the Prix D’Excellence Awards during its national conference proceedings. These awards recognize outstanding achievements in institutional advancement (including alumni relations, stewardship, marketing, communications and more).
We are pleased to share that HSC is the recipient of three 2016 CCAE Prix D’Excellence awards!
